Become a Volunteer
Volunteers are special people who contribute their time to help others.
We are always in need of enthusiastic people who have a passion for history and enjoy talking to the public. Docents are needed to give guided tours to the public on weekdays and weekends. We also need volunteers for special events and other projects.
Volunteers serve as highly valued adjunct members of the staff. Their work is of great importance to the operation of the museum. The position of docent provides an essential and direct service to visitors.
Benefits
After completing training and a specified number of volunteer hours, all docents become eligible for several benefits as a thank you for their service. They include but are not limited to free admission to Lee Hall Mansion, the Virginia War Museum and Endview Plantation for themselves and one family member, a discount in the museum gift shops, and an annual special recognition dinner.
